Announcement: The Pittsburgh Writer + Penn Museum

The Stories We Wear

It’s not every day I get to make an announcement of this nature. As it happens, my brother-in-law is typically the one who gets to do really cool things. Okay, that’s not entirely true. I was on an episode of Finding Bigfoot with him back when I was still in college. Let’s just say I sorely overdressed for that occasion! That episode is still aired from time to time, and I stick out like a sore thumb in the “town hall scene.”

Awkward hilarity aside, today I get to announce that I was – and I’m still shocked this happened – invited to be part of a press release event for Penn Museum‘s new exhibit, “The Stories We Wear.”

Last week I included the Penn Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a post titled “Seven Sites About Pennsylvania.” It was through that post they found me, and I am ever so glad they did!

As I’ve never been past Harrisburg or Hershey, PA, (wait, how far away is York?) I’m thrilled to visit Philadelphia for the first time in my 35 years. Not only that, but it’s my birthday weekend, so I’ll celebrate my 36th year with a mini trip within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

This is what I love about history. About historical fiction. And about writing historical adventures. There’s so much history we’re just not taught in grade school – unless you go to university for it – and inspiration can come from any time, any place, any wear.

Last year my family and I were lucky enough to be able to visit Johnstown, PA on my birthday weekend.
This time my birthday and historical tour will happen in Pennsylvania’s very own City of Brotherly Love.
Look for the blog post about it all around the end of September/beginning of October!
