Reviews. Some bloggers review books in order to receive monetary gifts. But others, like myself, prefer to keep things casual. We read books and review them for the pure joy of reading. This is evident in the fact that I do not even have ads activated on this website, and I never will. As I am reviewing books more than ever before, I realized that I really do need a Review Policy. After browsing the book blogger sphere this week, I took a few cues yet managed to make this policy my own.
New Releases. In an effort to save my sanity, I will not even attempt to keep up with all the new releases, from any genre. In fact, sometimes it’s better to review a book after its initial publication. While there will be some reviews for up-and-coming books, reviews aren’t the main focus of this blog.
ARCS and NetGalley. If I received a book via NetGalley or an ARC, this will in no way affect my opinions on the story. Ever.
Genres and Age Groups. Favorite Fiction Genres: Adventure, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Edwardian/Victorian/Regency Romances, Fairy tale Retellings, Paranormal and Thriller. Favorite Nonfiction Genres: Cookbooks, History, Writing Guides.
Favorite Age Groups: New Adult, Adult and some Young Adult.
Not Every Book Will Get a Review. Let’s face it – there will always be that one book we just hate right off the bat. No matter how we try to get into it, we know we won’t be able to do any sort of review justice. Our dislike will show way too much with whatever comments we may have. As such, not every book I read will get a review.
Requests. Not that I receive requests to review certain books often, but if you have a book you think I might like, please feel free to email me the recommendation at thepittsburghwriter.com. However, anything overly sexual or high fantasy will not be read or reviewed.
